A bit of history

The House of Music, an international masterpiece of modern architecture, immediately attracted the attention of the global music community. Previously, the stars performed at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and the Moscow Conservatory, but these two venues did not satisfy the needs of the Moscow public.

In 2000 JSC "Red Hills" was established, which was led by the famous theatrical figure Mikhail Shatrov. He managed to attract foreign investment, and construction began. Thus appeared the long-awaitedMoscow House of Music. The international status of the complex was assigned after the conclusion of agreements with leading performers of the opera stage, ballet art and famous chamber orchestras. The program of performances was drawn up a year ahead.

The House of Music, an international complex of world significance, is located on the banks of the Moskva River. One of the most beautiful embankments of Zamoskvorechye has become a worthy setting for a masterpiece of modern architecture. The Moscow International House of Music has organically blended into the surrounding landscape and today is an adornment of the Russian capital. The architectural buildings of the ensemble "Red Hills" are dispersed around the complex. Address of the House of Music: Kosmodamianskaya embankment, 52, building 8.

Architecture

The capital of Russia, a global metropolis, is the custodian of unique masterpieces of ancient architecture. Recently, however, buildings have been erected more and more often, which are not inferior in their architectural value to buildings from the distant past. One such example was the Moscow International House of Music. Moscow received a truly grandiose gift from the builders - a building that can compete in its majesty with Peter's Cathedral in the Vatican.

Ten floors, built in the latest Art Nouveau style of glass and durable composite structures, rest on a three-tiered stylobate. Two more floors go underground, to a depth of six meters. The height of the House of Music is over 46 meters, and the total area of the complex exceeds 40 thousand square meters. m.

The architectural design was developed by the construction company "TTA" ("Association of Theater Architects"). Initially, it was planned to place two halls with a capacity of 1800 and 600 seats in the MMDM. Then another concert hall with 524 seats was added. Also, a specialized store, a salon of branded musical instruments, an Allegro restaurant, an exhibition hall "The History of Music of the World" with exhibits were added to the construction plan. Thus, the final project was created - the House of Music, an international, world-class philharmonic complex.

Vladimir Spivakov, the famous conductor and violinist, the permanent head of the Moscow Virtuosos, has become the President of MIDM.

Attributes

The dome pommel of the House of Music in the form of a hemisphere is decorated with a ten-meter treble clef framed by laurel leaves covered with gold leaf. The symbol of musical art rotates on a vertical axis, like a weather vane. The complex support system for the heavy structure includes a giant roller bearing firmly anchored in the concrete frame at the top of the dome.

Structure of the complex

The Moscow House of Music consists of three concert halls: Svetlanovsky, Theater and Chamber, each of them was built according to a separate project.

Svetlanovsky Hall

The vast concert hall is named after the great musician and conductor Evgeny Svetlanov, who made an invaluable contribution to the Russianmusical culture. The composer's work can be traced from 1954, when he began performing as a conductor at the Bolshoi Theater, until his death in 2002.

The scheme of the Svetlanov Hall of the International House of Music is distinguished by a rational layout, its capacity is 1699 seats. The hall is intended for performances of symphony orchestras, competitions and festivals. The walls and interior details are lined with Siberian larch, the best acoustic material that nature has created.

The scheme of the Svetlanov Hall of the International House of Music, together with the acoustic parameters developed by specialists from the Institute of Building Physics, gives an unsurpassed effect. During the concert, the most delicate shades of the sound of instruments are heard.

After the famous Carnegie Hall, the International House of Music (the layout of the Yevgeny Svetlanov hall is presented in the article) is considered the most successful in terms of acoustic characteristics. The position of the seats contributes to optimal sound. In the middle of the hall there is a parterre, then there are rows of an amphitheater, and above there are multi-tiered balconies. Characteristically, the rows of balconies cover the stage almost in a circle. Thus, the musicians are available for viewing from all sides. The array of seats in the amphitheater and balconies is divided into two parts: left and right. The lodges of the Svetlanov Hall are small, five to seven seats each.

Currently there are no symphony concerts at Carnegie Hall, only jazz ensembles take the stage. And classical music performerswho previously played in Manhattan are now trying to play in Moscow.

Organ in the Svetlanov Hall

The Moscow International House of Music, whose layout of concert venues can accommodate several stationary instruments, has purchased a large organ made by the German company Glatter-Gotz. The design includes 6,000 pipes made of wood and tin, divided into 84 registers. The largest pipe has a length of 12 meters, it is made from a single piece of kondo spruce, the same variety from which the masters Amati and Guarneri made their violins.

All the most famous organists in the world have already played the instrument, leaving many enthusiastic reviews in the guest book.

International House of Music, chamber hall

In the basement, right under the Svetlanov Hall, there is another concert hall. This is a relatively small chamber hall with only 556 seats. The interior is designed in Art Nouveau style, with dominant red and green tones. The flooring in the chamber hall is dark green, the walls are finished with green marble, the wood trim is dark burgundy. The overall impression of the interior color combinations is somewhat gloomy, but since the music that sounds in the walls of the chamber hall is predominantly minor, the harmony is felt in the design as well.

Theatrical hall

The room is equipped with seat and stage transformation systems, which makes it possiblemultipurpose use. For a theatrical production or performance, the stage expands due to the retractable first five rows. The hall is also used for fashion shows, small themed concerts and community events.

The color scheme dominating the theater hall is violets combined with dark gray and brown. The foyer in front of the entrance is decorated with a rich decorative panel made of natural wood.

Equipment

The Moscow House of Music, thanks to its high technical support, is in constant readiness for the implementation of the most complex projects, synthetic performances that combine various types of art. An example is the performance of the Russian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra together with the New Opera Choir. The audience was presented with the cantata "Carmina Burana" with a video projection of Renaissance paintings.
