Dive into production

The first serious project for Mednikov-producer was a mini-series about the anomalous risk zone "Immersion". The All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company supported this film.

Mednikov started work together with two more producers - Alexei Kurenkov, known for the TV series "Foreign Affairs", and Dmitry Paklin, who worked in the film "Behind You" with Svetlana Khodchenkova.

"Dive" is a fascinating story about divers. People who have been striving all their lives to find something new and unusual in the mysterious underwater world. Mainhero Igor is a classic black digger. He is a romantic and adventurous, always looking for new thrills, eager to experience something unusual and unique. Together with his brother, he goes in search of an abandoned quarry, in which, according to stories, there is a cache. In it, they expect to find traces of an ancient abandoned settlement.

To their great surprise and, of course, their joy, they quickly discover this quarry. Almost immediately begin to prepare for the first dive. However, a terrible and unexpected surprise awaits them. A mysterious anomalous zone appears under the water.

Calculator

The most high-profile production project of Mednikov was the science fiction film "The Calculator", directed by Dmitry Grachev.

The action of the picture takes place in the future on a distant planet where people have settled. It's a very harsh and inhospitable environment, but you don't have to choose. People live in colonies on patches of land reclaimed from the swamps surrounding them. This state is dominated by totalitarianism. At the same time, the death pen alty is prohibited on the planet. Therefore, prisoners found guilty of serious crimes are sentenced to exile. It actually replaces the death pen alty in this world. There is a chance to survive, but it is fantastically small.

At the very beginning of the film, another batch of prisoners is planted on the Sargasso swamp. There is no food, no water, no people. Only occasionally can one meet small groups of prisoners whomanaged to survive, but as a result they turned into semi-animals. There is no other way in these conditions.

At the same time, among the prisoners there is a legend about the Happy Islands, which have everything for a favorable life. However, getting to them is not easy, and not everyone is sure that they even exist. The main characters Erwin, nicknamed the Calculator (Evgeny Mironov), and Christie (Anna Chipovskaya) are heading to these islands.

The rest of the prisoners, led by an experienced bandit Yust (Vinnie Jones), go in the opposite direction, hoping to get to an abandoned prison, where there is at least some chance of surviving in the swamps.

However, at first, their path often crosses. The intrigue is added by the fact that Erwin the Calculator, before his arrest, held a very high position in the state. Therefore, he is sure that the government will decide not to hope that he himself will die in the swamps, but will do it for sure - they themselves will organize his murder.

Failure of the "Calculator"

The film was released in 2014 and failed miserably at the box office. The All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, which, together with Art Pictures Studio, was engaged in its production, admitted failure.

The budget of the picture was more than two million dollars. The profit from cinemas amounted to less than 50 million rubles.

At the same time, the blockbuster was crushed by almost all domestic and foreign film critics. At best, it was rated as average and nothing outstanding. The Internet publications Pravda.ru and Film.ru even released devastatingreviews.

The main complaint that the audience made to the picture was that it was simply boring. In addition, the editing and the quality of special effects were dubious, on which they obviously saved money.

The only ones who deserve positive feedback are the actors Yevgeny Mironov and Anna Chipovskaya, who really worked fruitfully on their images.

The most scathing film critics compared it to an episode of a low-grade TV show from the mid-80s, noting a lot of cliches, a general plot that falls apart due to a lot of inconsistencies.

Uppercut for Hitler

After such a serious setback, Mednikov soon returned to major production projects. In 2016, together with director Denis Neimand, he filmed the military historical drama series Uppercut for Hitler. The main roles are played by Anton Momot and Polina Tolstun.

The script of the picture is based on real events. The story tells about the secret operation of Soviet intelligence officers during the Great Patriotic War to organize the assassination of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

The main character Igor Miklashevsky goes to Germany under the guise of a deserter who decided to go over to the side of the Fuhrer. The Germans naturally treat him with distrust. Therefore, the intelligence officer has to endure torture and many hours of interrogation. Only after that he was taken to serve in the German army. He ends up as an adjutant to SS Standartenführer W alter Schloss, known for his passion for gambling.

The lyrical line adds piquancy to the picture. Miklashevsky falls in love with a French liaison of Russian origin - Nastya Shuvalova. Largely thanks to her support, he manages to play the role of "his" behind enemy lines. Over time, he gets close to the top leadership of the Nazi Party and to his main goal - Adolf Hitler.

4-episode film aired on Rossiya TV channel.
