Short biography

Josef Zbukvic was born in the capital and largest city of Croatia - Zagreb. The boy began to draw from childhood, but the family did not support the child's passion and did not pay attention to his talent. In this regard, Joseph entered the institute in the class of foreign languages.

Political instability and civil unrest in the country in 1970 forced his family to immigrate to Australia.

It was in this country that the artist became famous: Joseph's talent simply captivated lovers of watercolor painting. They praised the combination of technical precision with romantic realism and storytelling.

In 1974, a graduate of Deakin University, located in the second largest city in Australia - Melbourne, with a diploma in industrial design.

A real chanceJoseph Zbukvich was able to show his talent and pursue his life's work in 1978, when his long-awaited debut exhibition was able to take place.

The artist was in love with watercolor at first sight. Her capricious strong-willed character, living by her own principles, made the master enthusiastically plunge into work with this paint with her head.

Joseph is a member of the Victorian Watercolor Society, and in 1991-1994. even served as its vice president. He also sits on the Australian Watercolor Institute.
