Russian stage has always been distinctive. This is especially evident in the bands that began their career in the mid-nineties of the last century. One of these groups was the electronic pop duo "Chugunny Skorokhod" from St. Petersburg. It existed from 1996 to 2008 and managed to release six full-length albums.
How did it all start?
As already mentioned, the group "Iron Skorokhod" takes its beginning from rainy St. Petersburg. Two musicians - Anton Newmark and Yuri Usachev - were among the first to introduce elements of electronic sound into the usual pop music.
Despite the popularity that hit the musicians at the speed of light, in 1997 Yuri Usachev left the band. He decided to give preference to his other projects. Pavel Zavyalov comes to replace him.
Since 1999, now in the updated line-up, "Pig-iron Skorokhod" has become a frequent participant in large musical events. For example, in 2000 they performed at the Kazantip festival, held in Ukraine. They also toured withconcerts in the B altic countries, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Egypt.
The team has more than a dozen collaborations with both Russian musicians and world-class DJs. Some of the brightest and most memorable collaborations were with American musician Rob De Stephano and Italian electronic artist Mauro Picotto.
A little outrageous
A distinctive feature of the work of the "Iron Walker" and the songs performed by them can be considered eccentricity, humor and satire. The guys composed their songs in the electro-pop genre on understandable and mundane topics, for which they were sincerely loved by the public. Unfortunately, they often did it with a bit of excessive outrageousness, which led to a ban on the broadcast of their videos on television and rotation of songs on the radio.
They often fell under the hot hand of critics, but, nevertheless, they were able to hold out on the musical Olympus for almost twelve years, breaking up only in 2008.
